Effective heat capacity
The amount of heat required to generate a unit temperature rise in a calorimetric system is called the effective heat capacity of a calorimeter, expressed in E and expressed in J/℃ or J/K.
Calibration of thermal capacity
Measure the heat capacity of the calorimeter by using a substance with a known calorific value to increase the temperature of the entire calorimetry system by 1 ℃.

Thermal capacity calibration
The calibration of heat capacity generally requires 5 repeated tests, and the average value and relative standard deviation of the 5 repeated test results should be calculated. The relative standard deviation should not exceed 0.20%. If it exceeds the requirement, make another attempt and take the average of the 5 results that meet the requirements, rounded to 1J/K, as the heat capacity of the instrument.
Before using the new calorimeter, it is generally necessary to conduct at least 8 heat capacity calibration tests with benzoic acid. The mass of benzoic acid tablets ranges from 0.7g to 1.3g, and at least two repeated measurements should be made at the two endpoints. The relative standard deviation should not exceed 0.20%.
Validity period of heat capacity
The validity period of the heat capacity calibration value is three months. If it exceeds this period, it should be recalibrated. However, in the following situations, it should be recalibrated immediately: 1. Replace the thermometer; Replace the large components of the calorimeter; The difference between the calibrated heat capacity and the inner cylinder water temperature during heat generation measurement exceeds 5K; The calorimeter has undergone significant handling.
